VCCI holds golf tourney to promote business

Visakhapatnam: Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry as part of its 93rd year celebrations organised the third edition of a golf tournament here to promote business.
VCCI has served the business community for over nine decades. VCCI has been led by the early founders of Vizag business community where the first ship entered Visakhapatnam Harbour in 1933 and Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) was established with the involvement of its founding-members. The third edition of the Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce Golf Cup was played by local business leaders, armed forces, civil servants and other citizens of the city at East Point Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.
The tournament drew 200 participants. EPGC, a recently renovated golf course is classified to be a category `A` golf course by the Indian Golf Union (IGU). The IGU is the apex body of golf in the country and all golf courses across India are under its jurisdiction. Recently EPGC has also bagged an award for the best designed golf course in India by the Golf Industry Association of India. This has put Visakhapatnam on the national map of golf and has made the city a tourist destination by golfers from across the country.
Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral V Srinivasan was the chief guest for the prize distribution along with VCCI president M Sudarsan Swamy and honorary secretary Rolland Williams. Capt Sudeep Banerjee of JM Baxi Group (VCTPL) was the main sponsor for the event.
